I finally got Mozilla to access the email files from my Windows installation. unfortunately, I have to run Mozilla with Sudo in order to actually read the files, much less write to them. maybe I should change the gid and umask values for my FAT32 partitions in fstab.

I've often thought of trying to get Mozilla on both windows and linux to use the same configuration directory, but I never bothered to look into how. (Of course, I also told myself I should reinitialize my HD and partition it three ways -- one for documents -- but I still haven't gotten to it.)

I'd just like to mention that sudoing it had the unfortunate side effect of wiping my bookmarks. Not my main copy, on the Windows drive, but still inconvenient - especially since it took me so long to figure out just why my Bookmarks list and Personal Toolbar were blank. I'm, uh, a little slow on the uptake, sometimes.

So sudo is a less than optimal solution.
