Aug. 14th, 2003 10:06 amhad 3 eggs and a couple of slices of toast for breakfast. unfortunately, I didn't realize until I was mostly finished with the last of each that either the last egg was off, or the second slice of toast was ever so slightly moldy, or both. dunno which. guess I'll find over the next couple of days if I ate anything hazardous. as usual.
reading a couple of books by John Ringo and David Weber: March Upcountry and March to the Sea, in Microsoft Reader format. it's not too bad, if you like the "virtual book" format, but it only shows one page at a time and It's rather difficult to go back and forth to check things. plain-text files are so much better for reading anything without embedded images, in which case I'm all for HTML.
anyway, the books are damned good. there's some plot breaks -- Roger's sudden turnaround seems a little, well, sudden, and the whole translation thing... well, I guess that gets dropped in the same boat as Star Trek's universal translators: stretches for the sake of advancing the plot quickly. but anyway, most enjoyable.
my mind is feeling kind of, um... "soggy," is the best word I can come up with, oddly. and my nails are going to shit. so I'm gonna read a bit more of this book, clean m'self up, and drag off to bed.
