Jun. 20th, 2011 02:08 amI'm not sure how it happened (or how it could happen), but apparently as a result of making the 2-3 upshift too fast I slipped the striker out of the 1-2 selector without moving the rod past the second gear detent. how that got it stuck in fifth gear I'm trying not to imagine. I'm just thankful it didn't end up with both gears engaged. for the short time that would have lasted.
but cautious inspection and adjustment (read: alternately wiggling and slamming the shifter around) got it back into the 1-2 selector and from there into proper working order again. I suspect there's a set screw or lock pin involved that may be either loose or worn and will cause me trouble in the future, but I'll leave that to the future.
