yay new parking brake cable!
Sep. 8th, 2009 08:00 pmthat took far longer than it had any right to. almost 4 hours to remove 5 bolts, 4 spring clips, and 3 cotter pins; cut the old cable to remove it from the rubber retainers; and lube and replace the mess with a new cable.
this was not aided by the driver's side of the cable having exactly enough slack to install on the caliper, provided the caliper was unbolted and the cam lever was completely depressed. this called for approximately 3.5 hands, a pair of locking needle-nose pliers, and liberal quantities of profanity.
tomorrow: the driver's outer tie rod end. and continued pondering of the absolutely shitty job some past welder had done of installing a muffler.
