car repair and me are a bad mix

hyurifinally broke at Wal-Mart today and got some new headphones. my mom was getting my brother a new set, so she offered to toss in the same amount towards my new pair and I finally decided on the Sony MDR-Q22LP. I would have gone with another set like the MDR-D08s I had, because I like the way they sound and the way they feel, but they only had the cheap-ass version, and the frequency range on everything else was like 40-20k (or even 16k!) Hz. so I went with the Sonys. because they were cheap and have a range of 20-24k Hz with 24 ohms impedance. still, they mass almost 3 times what I'm used to, and even that felt a bit heavy at times, so...
I dunno. I guess time will tell -- and if I don't like 'em, I'll give 'em to my brother or something.
oh yeah, and the only reason I could afford them was the fact that I got paid $20 for changing the rotor, distributer cap, and spark plugs (plug cables are integral to the cap) on my grandmother's car. it's a piece of crap, and it took over an hour 'cause the damn plugs were all rusted and shit, but her car is working properly again. with the exception of overheating, but the other problems caused it to run way overheated for the 4 hours or so it took to get the 20 miles home. at an average speed of 2 MPH. it's now quite content to do 50, 60 MPH or so, and easily. should have held out for more money, but I figured it would be an easy 20 minutes or so like her Oldsmobile. stupid me: that car got serviced at least once or twice a year. I'm not sure if this thrice-damned Toyota's ever been serviced properly. I mean, it was just in the shop less than 2 months ago, and the spark plugs were all rusted up, with the wrong gaps (almost twice what they were supposed to be); the rotor was corroded and jammed in place; it has sporadic transmission problems... and the shop had pretty much a blank fucking check, so long as they fixed it!
