oh well, the clutch was already going out
Aug. 15th, 2008 01:13 amnew battery. cleaned cylinder head temperature sensor, the dry one (800 grit sandpaper is your friend). car sounds weird.
actually what's weird is the sound that's missing: the injectors clicking. it's a beautiful counterpoint to the exhaust note, and a much louder telltale for shifting. I was misshifting all day because I can't hear where I've revved to.
of course, the worst one was entirely my fault: dropping the clutch into third at 700 RPM/64 MPH. someone jumped in front of me as I was downshifting and I panicked, performing that brilliant maneuver in the midst of an emergency lane-change. I'm really surprised I didn't leave the road, much less the lane.
I'm kinda wondering now why anyone wants me to drive them anywhere. or, more accurately, why everyone wants me to drive them everywhere.
