stories strike me strangely

hyuriI just finished volume 9 of Battle Angel Alita (manga), and find myself oddly depressed. I keep coming back to Ido, Jashugan, Hugo, and strangely, Zapan. the ends of their stories depress me, and so, oddly, does Alita's. perhaps someday I'll figure out why.
and I reeeally need to do laundry.
