So amongst videophiles, will a subculture emerge, much like audiophiles, that demand all pictures (music) be in lossless GIF format (lossless uncompressed audio a la FLAC)? I shall be one of them.

Well, no, most people actually prefer PNG (http://www.w3.org/Graphics/PNG/) anyway. It’s just an interesting thing to know about, y’know?
