is it wrong that my grandmother died and that hit my developing depression over being alone on V‑Day and went *poof* and now it’s all good?

Sorry to say, but it sound more like you shorted out on it.
If so, it will probably come back and hit you like a truck sometime later.

No, there’s a distinctive “dead” feeling when I’ve blown an emotional breaker. I won’t deny the possibility that you may be correct, but I don’t think that’s it.

I'd say it's because you're relieved she's passed on.

I'm not going to pretend to know what your grandmother was like but of the most recent journal entries, she was no longer who she was. My grandmother has been that way for the past 4-5 years, like she's waiting for something to happen before she lets go. She can no longer talk, doesn't seem like she recognizes anyone, can't eat or get out of bed.

For a while, you hold out with an irrational amount of hope. Maybe she'll get better. But you lose that after a while, because it's inevitable.

It's not that you're not sad or grief-stricken by her passing, but it's a pretty big weight taken off your shoulders. She's finally at peace.
