my grandparents decided yesterday that I’m taking this summer off school to recover from eye surgery. so I get to look up info on PRK, because that’s the only refractive eye surgery the USAF permits for new pilot candidates.

and I just lost a $20 bill. so I had to eat the cost of what I got sent out to buy. >_<

I was part of the trial for PRK back in 1994-5. Both eyes were repaired to better-than-new. Once healed, my left eye came out 20/12.5, and the right 20/16. That's good stuff. It's also hella painful in the recovery stage, and it takes several weeks for eyesight to recover-- it's like looking through a piece of glass that's been scoured with fine sandpaper, or like being in a perpetual fog. (I took my commercial flight test while my left eye was recovering. No, I did not tell the FAA examiner about this. Yes, I did pass. ^_^)
