he ate another of my sat. wires! and, of course, it was the one with virtually no excess left, and he chewed it off a bit over an inch away from the plug.

and the electrical tape is missing, so I can’t wrap the new connections yet, so i can’t use the damned thing...

he = the cat? If so, get some pepper or chile powder and put it on the cords near where the cat likes to chew. if you can make some sort of paste (maybe a few drops of water) and spread it on the cord (of course, not on the places where it is already chewed through) that should discourage the cat (also may want to put a plastic sheet or something under the cords so you do not get chile powder paste all over the floor) :-P
