more from LAX
Sep. 14th, 2004 07:56 amoh ,and I completely forgot about this: we get to LAX, right, and we (I) find a place to park? and there’s, like, 150, 200 pounds of baggage to move, plus small child.
we need a cart.
between us, the smallest bill we have is a ten. the carts are $3, and they don’t give change.
picture this: it’s around 2000, in a parking garage at LAX. some guy—young, dark‑haired, and darkly dressed—comes trotting up, asking if you can break a ten. what’s your response?
I pretended not to hear the muttered exchanges contradicting their negative responses as I walked away.
(I finally found someone willing to reveal that they could break a ten, and got a cart. two hours later, as we were leaving, I noticed that the cart dispenser on level 1, by the crosswalk, returned change.)
