Jun. 3rd, 2004 01:26 amtoday was quite a bit more enjoyable than I'd expected. other than the whole part about sitting in the sun for 3 hours waiting for the commencement speeches to start, and then for them to finish so we could actually get to the part actually involving the graduates, of course.
I still think Gen's a bitch, but she's a sweet and friendly bitch. and her siblings were there: her little brother, who just finished sixth grade, and her little sisters. who both have the sort of slim figure that just turns me green with envy. thankfully, Erin's gotten past the snotty/superior aloofness that was kind of her signature through childhood.
Gen's boyfriend's son, Travis, whom my parents both remembered as being a little shit, was actually pretty good. kinda reminded me of my brother and Justin, each tempered by the better parts of the other. he was nice, polite, and didn't seem to be disturbed by my, um, quiet-sit-in-the-corner-ignore-me deal. Erin actually tried to talk to me, but I was kind of in my "there's people around" discomfort zone, so I wasn't really responsive. -_-
I actually kinda got out of that right before we left and had a bit of a conversation with Travis, Dylan, and Meghan about video games. of course, Meghan's contribution was basically, "bwah?" but she was talking about it, so... anyway, that was good. aside from the fact that they both like Yu-Gi-Oh, Travis likes Pokémon, and they both think MegaMan and Metroid suck. and Travis thinks the SNES is a worthless system. but it was fun. ^_^
thought about giving them (Erin and Meghan) an email, or maybe an AIM/ICQ/whatever name, so I could actually try having something of a conversation with them, but I couldn't think of any way to bring it up. I suck like that.
the drive home was good. damned relaxing—almost too relaxing, actually. it's nighttime, I'm coming up from Simi on the freeway, I'm just cruising along, I'm passing CHPs left and right... and I'm doing 75-80, usually between packs. I was, perhaps, less concerned about that than I should have been. 'course, I passed a few on the way down when I was doing 90+, so I guess I just wasn't too worrisome to them.
anyway, I got home a bit before you logged off, Charles, but my ass was numb (and it still is, kind of) and I had a bit of a cramp in my right butt cheek. I hate roads with friggin' high crowns. >< that, and I was still kinda zoned from the drive. it's almost like a drug, driving at night. especially with the moon so bright...
