mmm, game controls...

it may not be the correct method (hell, it definitely isn't!), but with the aid of my PSX->LPT adapter and the cord from a PSX controller I cut up a while back, I have a functional gamepad again. plugged the loose wires from the end of the PSX cord into the appropriate holes on the plug end of an SNES pad. it works, and It Is Good.

as soon as my uncle gets here I'm going over to my grandparents house to try once more to get their modem working. the computer is a bitch. but I'm better (worse?).

damn eMachines, anyway

ended up coming home to pick up my old Cirrus Logic 33.6k modem 'cause the one in their computer was a piece of shit and didn't work. got dinner at In-N-Out, watched the people, loved the fries.forgot the batteries for my GBC, so I couldn't play something while the computer was thrashing things out, but the TV was on so I watched most of an episode of the Gilmore Girls.

traded stories with my uncle and got an offer to teach me to drive a stick on Saturday so we can tool around somewhere. there's a joy in just driving around with no set goal or time limit; no reason to not get lost; that's unlike any other. that and, if we can work it, he's going to talk my other uncle into borrowing my grandparents' old truck so I can get my license in the next few weeks.

so I got this project, see...

I have to fix up 4 pages of HTML: make it work on a new server; clean it up; and make it smaller, if possible. this is for my mom, and when I finish she'll pay for 3 months of RO for me.

however, this is not just any HTML, this is FrontPage barf. redundant tags; fucked up tags; style attributes rather than a stylesheet and class/id attributes; DTD statement that doesn't validate -- the usual.

and I have maybe a couple of days to fix over 100k of this shit. I like Emacs, but I think I'll be breaking out EditPlus for this: the color highlighting is far more useful, and it has almost all the features Emacs does, too.

and apparently someone decided I wasn't going to eat tonight, since the leftovers from dinner seem to have migrated into the trash can. I discovered this because I was, in fact, planning to eat some.
