it occurs to me that having a package from Victoria's Secret show up at the door would be a bad idea. my father would find a conclusion to jump to, even—hell, especially—if I actually explained to him exactly what was going on.

and they're clearancing a few items I've been wanting to get. bugger. probably shouldn't spend the money anyway, but still...

fucking idiot doctor! >_<

I was lucky enough to have my own mailbox for a couple of years while I was in college. However, I did have some thoughts on how to avoid this problem.

1. If possible, send the package as a gift. Some places do charge extra for this. You can set it up so that the recipiant and the sender are obscured that way.

2. If you have any local friends in-the-know, you can send the package to them and have them call you when it comes in.

3. Set up a post office box or pay a mailing company to recieve the package for you. Since this always costs money, it's not nearly as preferred as the other methods.

Thanks for the ideas, but I don't think you quite grasp the depths of my father's paranoia and general imbalance.

  1. If a package from Victoria's Secret arrives, he'll assume it's for my mother. Period. If it comes gift-wrapped, he'll assume she's cheating on him, too. Doesn't matter whose name is on it.

  2. I don't have any local friends, much less friends-in-the-know. Only person within, um, a few hundred miles? who knows is my mother. Which leads right back to the last one. -_-

  3. It may cost more, but it's certainly safer than the others. I should find out how much that'd cost...
