he's convinced me to apply at Wal-Mart (did it yesterday). he also handed me his credit card with instructions to buy myself a processor, after finding out that that was what was keeping my computer from working. he was talking about like $150, but I figured that was a bit much and went for the $80 one.

so I should have a computer again by Wednesday. unless, of course, something else goes wrong.

Whats that got to do with your parents having weird friends?

He's one of my dad's old high school buddies. A few months ago they met for the first time in over 35 years. He was willing to basically give me $150 in exchange for peanuts, knowing nothing of my ability to provide those peanuts. He gave me his bloody credit card and all the relevant information to order stuff online, not knowing if I could or would remember that information and use it without his knowledge.

Basically, he trusted me, based entirely on faith in one of my parents. QED.
