hyuriincredible. not only do I have Linux running on my system, but it's been stable for two days and I'm using it to write this!
and apparently I'm a better programmer than I thought: I pulled the source to a program I wrote (in VC++ 6.0) off my Windows drive and ran it through GCC with no problems. shock. amazement, too.
as much effort as I've put in this time around, I will be seriously pissed if this thing dies again.
next step: getting some other emulators working. Wine and ZSNES just will not cut it.
