no sooner do I replace one failing drive than another starts going wonky on me. no, seriously. the first boot after I installed the new drive, before I'd even formatted it, this other drive started doing this thing where it disappears from Windows' ken. I'm honestly kinda freaked by this behavior.

granted, none of my drives were less than five years old, but still....
