only now it seems that his problems swallowing, which he's been basically blowing off for a week and more, essentially amount to
I mean, okay, you get points for speaking directly to the man, but you lose most of them for a) shouting to handle his being partly deaf, and b) for treating him like a child. for fuck's sake, the man is 85 years old. he's not senile. you don't need to be demanding callbacks on the same piece of information a dozen times for as many sentences.
also, spending >95% of our time in your office for your
phrasing your explanations in such a way as to imply that failure to swallow effectively is the fault of the patient was just icing on the cake.
my horror at seeing my grandfather, always a pillar of strength in my life, reduced to a small, frail, terrified old man by your failure to consider your words is rivaled only by my frustration at being unable to properly rebuke you lest I destroy what little pride he has left by revealing that his reaction was visible.
