Jun. 9th, 2007 12:41 amwell, I finally got the bearing replaced, and I feel pretty stupid. I cut most of the way through the inner race, in two places, with a dremel: the idea being that I would use a chisel to split it. then I got out the chisel, looked at it, looked at the bearing, and realized
then I tried to pound the input shaft through the driveway. that was really stupid. I forgot that I had the bellhousing resting flat and figured the bearings just weren’t going into their bores. made sense to me after having to drive the old outer race out! but no; I lifted the case and they just dropped in.
now I just need to stab it again: the first time I didn’t get it into gear properly, so I wasn’t turning the input shaft and didn’t get it in the clutch. meh.
test drive scheduled for ... Sunday. when I can afford some gear oil. -_-
hey, why don’t I use this to wedge the bearing off?so I did.
