in two weeks, my brother gets to start being assigned to working parties.

when he and the 1400 other Marines he got moved with move out of their warehouse in Albany and back to Pensacola.

I swear, if I enlist after this semester I’m going to get posted before he does. XD but he’d still rank me.

Aww, don't enlist. :/ I know so many people already that are overseas now cause they enlisted after high school.

Well, it’ll certainly be after high school since I haven’t been there in about fours years. ^_^ But one way or another I’m going in, if they’ll have me, and I really don’t like the idea of waiting an extra 3–4 years (of school) to start my own life, just so I can get a commission.

Yes, I’m crazy. No, I’m not suicidal. It’s just another part of my personal civil responsibility. For which I have no intention of dying, since I know that I’m not immortal.

Besides, with my luck they’ll probably dump me in Korea or Alaska or something.

Not to start a flamewar, I respect your greatly for not bowing when pretty much all the people I've seen comment on your "enlisting" posts insist you shouldn't enlist. Do it for you, not for anybody else.

I'm still considering the Navy at some point, myself. ^_^

Are you going Marines instead of AF now?

Probably am. If they’ll let me do the transfer, I’m thinking about Marine Corps NCS (preferably 0311, 2311, or 5811), then if I feel I can handle it and have a good chance at it, jump over to the Navy for Corpsman training.

The Air Force seemed a lot better when I thought I had a shot at flying, and thinking of enlisting there was basically just a holdover. Takes me a little while to reorganize my thinking, y’know?

OK! Dave says to ask him if you have any questions - he'll help in any way he can (honorably discharged marine, has friends that are corpsmen, blah blah.) LOL

I hear ya. Really, from what I hear, the AF isn't all it's cracked up to be, y'know? Flying's cool, yeah, but...

Good luck! For what it's worth, I'm proud of you. lol

Haha, awesome! Thanks Dave!

Heh, all the Marines my brother or I know are saying I should go AF except the former recruiter. Very amusing to hear my bro’s roommate shouting that in the background. ^_^ (“It’s just like working at Kmart and you get paid the same!”)

I appreciate you saying that, but c’mon, save the pride till I actually do something, eh? ^_~

LMAO!
True, whenever I would speak to the big D he'd always been sacked out because he had to work 14-to-16 hour days for no overtime, but he never challenges the fact he's glad he enlisted. He says it made him a better person and took him places he could never go before, and that sounds good for everybody.

And I hear ya about the "paying my debt to society" thing. That's how I feel - I reap the benefits of a (mostly) peaceful place to live, because of the effort people have put forth to make it that way, why not contribute myself?

Awww... but I'm so happy to see my little Hyuri all grown up and going places! *sob!* LOL
Do you know what job you're gonna want to go for once you get in? You may have answered this already, but I'm retarded and am kind of loopy today. LOL

Loopy’s cool. I like loopy. XD

Yeah, I did, kinda. I mentioned 0311 (http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjo2/a/0311.htm) (Rifleman), 2311 (http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/marineenjobs/bl2311.htm) (Ammunition Technician), and 5811 (http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjo2/a/5811.htm) (Military Police), which are MOSs, Military Occupation Specialties. Jobs. Also known as ratings in the Navy and AFSCs (Air Force Specialty Codes) in the Air Force. Also, Hospital Corpsman (http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjob1/a/hm.htm) (HM) in the Navy.

NCS is the National Call to Service (http://usmilitary.about.com/od/marinejoin/a/ncsprogram.htm) program, “two‐year” enlistment. It’s actually only 15 months AOS, which is why I say NCS instead.

And that’s another big part of it, is the whole bit about being able to go places I couldn’t reach alone.
