if this is even remotely similar to how a migraine feels, those who suffer from them have my utmost sympathies.

Wouldn't be able to stand the glare of a computer monitor if it was :(

I never really thought it was/is a migraine, though. Even so, I still don’t think I want to feel this again.

I do, however, know from observation that I don’t respond to pain in quite the same way as most other people.

Figure something like someone has jammed an ice pick in your temple and whenever something bright or loud occurs, the ice pick is being leveraged against something and your head feels like it's about to come apart.

Buh. That’s actually a simile that I’ve used before, though I said “knife” instead of “ice pick”. And I’m somewhat familiar with the feelings of both gross head trauma and knife wounds. -_-

I have a bad habit of ignoring pain, except to bitch about it.

Actually, I described the low-end. At the worse end, figure this scenario:

I'm in my bathroom, because it's the darkest room in the house. There are no windows, I have the lights out. I am in the shower, facing away from the door, with my hands over my eyes? Why hands over my eyes? Because the little light which sneaks around the door, through the shower curtain, reflects off the back of the shower and through my eyelids is too much.

Sometimes I think I just need a pair of eye patches.

Oh, also, you can't just lay down and try to sleep it off. Laying down makes blood rush to your head, which makes it worse. So you have to say sitting up or standing.

Oh, also, migraines are always only on one side. I typically have them in the left temple.
