also, I need a USB hub. seriously. I have a mouse, keyboard, 2 gamepads, and a webcam. and four USB ports. and there are Other Things that I plan to get which require USB.

on the other hand, my motherboard has a two‑port header, and even two 1394 headers if I could find anything to attach to them...

There were a couple of small companies that made USB->Firewire adapters a few years back for Apple. I know I saw one but I couldn't tell you where, if you even could, find one. Firewire is so useless. Might as well give me 2 cigarette lighters back there.

Well, no, what I need is a pair of USB ports that I can connect to the motherboard headers. I know of two such sets, but one’s in my mom’s computer (she uses them) and one’s in my dad’s computer (I don’t think he owns anything USB).
