I have learned to treat children as responsible adults. Usually this trust is rewarded by a very friendly, happy and responsible child.

Dude, around here I can’t even treat people who have reached their majority as “responsible adults.” For the most part, that seems to be an oxymoron.
The problem is, I don’t even like happy children. I have difficulty dealing with
any
human under the age of 9, and many older than that.
