I still have some money, and I’m very tempted to run back up to the mall and snag that copy of Bomberman 64 they had.

but then I wouldn’ have the money to upgrade the (thus far hypothetical) hard drive purchase to 200 GB. tough decision: more fun now, or more time before I run out of space again?

I’m leaning towards fun, actually...

I do. I had 100 GB total, and I was compressing shit left and right just to have enough space to run Windows, and I had to stop downloading anything for a while. I’ve already gotten a bit of a start on the new 60 GBs I added the other day—the only reason I still have most of it free is because I got into the habit of queueing up downloads and then never starting them.

Mind if I ask what you download, or use the PC for? I have a 20GB hard-drive running linux and I barely take up 3GB. Anything I do not readily use I usually just package on CD though. Those hard drives are normally meant for local area networks or servers. If you are going for the HD how much do you plan on spending? You really should not need that much space....

Gaming (nice, new games—the ones that take 2 GB+), development (a large chunk was recently taken by Visual Studio.NET 2003, the June 2004 MSDN Library, and Office 2003), music (>10 GB), pr0n, anime...

I’m going to put Gentoo on the new drive; I had to remove it to free up space.

Well I can't help you with the porn or anime thing, most of my stuff is imported hentai books. You should probably try to put all your music on CD's though and I dunno if it will help but you can look this up: http://microsoft.toddverbeek.com/

You should check it out to see if there are alternatives to whatever you might need and help ya keep your hard drive from getting too full. You can always use these alternatives instead of MS products unless you need a few of them for work, but even then you can work around it all. How much are you planning to spend on the new HD by the way? What kinda games you play by the way? I was thinking about getting into some online/multiplayer games but have not seen any good ones lately.
