new hard drive. looooong wait while I zip up all the old stuff so it doesn’t lose any non‑ASCII characters in the transfer (it won’t work in my computer so I had to put it in my mom’s).

once it’s all packaged up, I need to move about 15GB of stuff over the network onto my computer, in which I have installed a new 80GB drive. which will, according to my parents, be replaced by a 160GB drive at the beginning of the month.

I seem to recall that your parents track record is not all that it should be with these things...

also, I guess that means you weren't able to save the disk with the bootdisk I mentioned earlier?

I didn’t try it. The drive was about 3 years out of warranty anyway, so I decided to go for the new drive while I had the chance. And this way, even if they don’t buy the big one, I still have 60% more space than I had on Thursday.

Also, that’s why I added the bit about “according to my parents.”
