Oct. 7th, 2012 10:43 pmmy GPU cooler is now running on half of its bearings and is held together with tape. go go ghetto fixes!
basically I put it in for testing with one bearing without the shroud, realized that fucking with the potentially delicate balance wasn't the best idea, and taped the shroud on rather than removing the heatsink to do it properly. surprisingly, it's running quieter and cooler (!) than it was before the fan seized up.
still trying to figure out what happened to the inner race of the failed bearing though: it's just gone.
