Tandy is not a good name
Sep. 2nd, 2011 04:04 amI have a few simple steps for dealing with creepy mindfucks at night.
also we have to move again, since they're declining to renew the lease. I'm sure it's probably unrelated to their raising the rent on our floorplan by almost $150. yeah. right.
Wednesday evening I'd heard some impressive crying and wailing outside for a while, which finally got close enough to identify as similar to a cat being tortured rather than children carrying on, so I looked out. nothing; close the door. get a weird feeling and check a moment later, and watch...
...as a kitten, maybe six weeks old, totters around the stairs outside our door. you know how really young kittens still can't balance properly yet? fuck.
and somehow this tiny kitten, smaller than my single fist: is weaned, is familiar with dry food, is familiar with (and uses) cat litter, and has the self-possession to hiss back at all of our cats without any sign of fear or anger. just, like, he's annoyed that they're being that way. even Saba, whose paws are almost as big as this kitten's head. freaky little thing, but he's cool.
and finally I'm beginning to hear odd things in the background of songs on my computer. like rhythmic sounds that are only very faintly audible when the song is cranked up, which I've never heard before from the same file, same software, same motherboard, same speakers. a few of them have what sounds like mumbled speech. it's strange and disturbing, and I can't figure it out.
- light my room so time of day is indistinguishable. (this also helps when I'm playing games with my sleep schedule. close the door and turn the light off: it's night! even at noon.)
- keep the doors closed.
- DO NOT anything in the story that I'm unfamiliar with.
- peripheral vision. use it.
- never allow silence to fall.
- don't even think words or phrases with religious or spiritual meaning. (I've actually noticed that I'm not even choking them off: I just don't think them. which is almost creepier than what I'm reading/watching/whatever.)
controlrestrict emotional responses.- stay. busy.
