Dec. 11th, 2003 11:55 pmwhat the fuck is the point of soundproofing the interior of a vehicle? I mean, if it's illegal to wear headphones while you're driving because that prevents you from hearing what's going on around you, why is it legal to drive a car that does the same?
of course, I may have an unusual view here. I don't like the drive-by-wire type of controls, because I want a consistent, direct relationship between my actions and those of the vehicle. the computer-regulated acceleration on my grandfather's truck is too slow for me: I want to be able to stomp on the gas pedal and get shoved back in my seat on the freeway, because around here you need to do that to merge safely. (incidentally, why do people insist on doing a maximum of 40-50 MPH all the way up the on-ramp? you need to be doing at least 60 -- more often 70 -- to actually get on without getting run over.)
and man, I slept a lot today. around 22 hours, if I'm counting right. one of these days I should probably do something about that.
I need a job. I have to get out of this house before I get more self-destructive.
