are [livejournal.com profile] science_vixen and I the only people in the world who have problems getting Unicode working in Fluxbox? >_<

I've emerged and reemerged Fluxbox half a dozen times today; I emerged fucking xfree again; I've played with various Unicode fonts -- nothing. I'm going to emerge it one more time, then I'm going to try 0.9.6, and then I'm going to go bash something's brains out. unless one of those steps actually fixes it.

<a few minutes later> no such luck. guess I'm trying 0.9.6. >_<

on the up side, one of the Fluxbox devs says he wants the old-style tabs back too. ^__^

that could be really ugly with rounded corners, though... ¬_¬

in other news, I finally got m'self a set of jammies. ^_^ they didn't have the Garfield ones anymore, but the hood probably would have been irritating after a while. so, not really a great loss.

of course, now I have to wait for my father to go to bed before I get them out of the car. and he doesn't seem to be planning to sleep. -_-

Let me know how it works out...

I figured out why portage ran so damn long...
I gotta stup using sudo, and get rid of the entire 2nd folder-tree I compiled..

sudo != good for major, system-changing stuff. Use su for that.

And Flux 0.9.6 sucks even worse than 0.9.6-pre9. Somehow they managed to break one of it's few redeeming features: transparent menus/slit. As in, they're still fully opaque at 0 alpha.

And it didn't fix Unicode, so I downgraded. emerge -b is a wonderful thing. ^_^
