one of my cats, Miki, has always had a problem with shortness of breath, so bad that within seconds of commencing the chase of a toy he would pant heavily. apparently this is symptomatic of a fatal defect -- they just drop dead one day with no obvious cause. my mom took Miki to the vet to get neutered yesterday morning; he died under the effects of the pre-sedative relaxant. in the morning we're going to pick up his body and bury him next to Shadow.

he wasn't quite 6 months old.
